Australians among the remaining 22 passengers on the MV Hondius were set to be evacuated overnight via a Dutch flight to the Netherlands. A repatriation operation had, on Sunday, evacuated 94 people of 19 nationalities, according to Spanish health minister Mónica García. The decision to fly Australians to the Netherlands stemmed from timing issues with a second plane planned to return passengers to Australia from Tenerife. In the end, all remaining passengers were moved on the Netherlands flight.
The Hondius situation envolve hantavirus concerns affecting some evacuees, with ongoing coordination between the Spanish authorities and international partners to ensure safe repatriation. García noted the prioritization of timing and route feasibility to complete the operation efficiently, given logistics across multiple countries.

Jane Hume, deputy Liberal leader, said there is no current drive within the Coalition to include One Nation, insisting the party organization would decide on any such alignment. Tim Wilson, shadow treasurer, stated he would not endorse a hypothetical coalition. Hume added that no one in the Coalition’s parliamentary group is advocating widening the alliance to One Nation.
Hume also commented on the recent Farrer byelection, urging the Coalition to listen to voters after a clear defeat. She characterized the result as a tough night but argued the coalition has history of prosperity and would not be wiped out. The remarks came during an appearance on ABC’s 7.30 program.
